Chicago, IL – Design Chicago, the Midwest’s premier and largest residential design conference, is slated to return to the iconic Merchandise Mart (The Mart) from October 8th to 9th, 2025. This highly anticipated annual event will once again bring together thousands of design professionals, manufacturers, and enthusiasts for two days dedicated to education, product discovery, and industry networking.

A Premier Gathering at The Mart

For 2025, Design Chicago continues its tradition of hosting the region’s most significant residential design conference within the historic walls of The Mart. This architectural landmark, a “city within a city” that has been a cornerstone of Chicago’s design and commerce landscape since its opening in 1930, provides an expansive and inspiring backdrop for the event. With over 250 permanent showrooms across its floors, The Mart offers a uniquely tactile experience for designers, a crucial element in an increasingly digital world.

The conference is renowned for its comprehensive program, focusing on key sectors within residential design, including kitchens, baths, and home furnishings. Attendees can expect a deep dive into the latest innovations, materials, and aesthetic directions shaping contemporary homes.

Education, Inspiration, and Innovation

Design Chicago 2025 promises a robust schedule of educational sessions, many of which will offer Continuing Education Units (CEUs) vital for industry professionals. These sessions are curated to provide actionable insights, covering a wide array of topics. Previous iterations have featured discussions on material trends, the integration of technology in design, global color forecasts for upcoming years, and the revival of classical design elements for modern living. The 2025 program is expected to continue this tradition, offering designers the knowledge and inspiration to stay ahead of evolving client demands and industry standards.

Beyond the formal presentations, the event excels at fostering inspiration through its extensive product showcases. Attendees will have the opportunity to explore new collections and product features from hundreds of showrooms, gaining firsthand exposure to the cutting edge of home furnishings, cabinetry, lighting, and more.

DesignDash and Industry Connection

New to this year’s Design Chicago is the inclusion of “DesignDash,” a series of high-impact workshops designed specifically for firm owners. These sessions aim to equip leaders with strategies for intentional business growth, team building, and enhanced leadership clarity, addressing the challenges and opportunities faced by design businesses today. This initiative underscores the conference’s commitment to not only showcasing design trends but also supporting the business acumen of its attendees.

The event also provides unparalleled networking opportunities. From open houses and informal meetups to more formal evening events like the Opening Night Reception and the Design Chicago Soiree, professionals will connect with peers, mentors, and industry leaders, fostering collaboration and shared learning. The conference aims to strengthen the design community within Chicago and across the Midwest.

Shaping the Future of Design in Chicago

Design Chicago is more than just a trade show; it is a vital platform that influences the trajectory of residential design. By convening key players and showcasing the latest advancements, the event helps define the trends and standards that will shape homes for years to come. The conference’s focus on tactile experiences, innovative products, and educational content solidifies its role as a critical nexus for the design industry in the Midwest. As anticipation builds, Design Chicago 2025 stands poised to deliver valuable insights and foster connections that will inspire and advance the field of residential design. The event is not just about looking at what’s new, but about understanding the broader shifts in how people live and how design can enhance those lives, touching upon aesthetics that often echo trends in fashion and broader cultural movements.
