CHICAGO – Food enthusiasts and sports fans alike are gearing up for the highly anticipated return of Chicago Gourmet, set to deliver an unparalleled culinary experience from September 25-28, 2025. This year’s event embraces the theme “Step Up To The Plate,” masterfully weaving together the worlds of gastronomy and athletics, celebrating the shared dedication, precision, and passion that defines both high-caliber sports and exceptional food.

A Premier Culinary Celebration with Sports Flair

Chicago Gourmet, a cornerstone of the city’s vibrant restaurant scene for over a decade, promises a season of unforgettable flavors and engaging events. Invesco QQQ joins as the new title sponsor, partnering with the Illinois Restaurant Association (IRA), the founding sponsor, and Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits, the longtime presenting sponsor. This collaboration fuels a festival that not only showcases the best of Chicago’s culinary talent but also highlights the competitive spirit that resonates throughout the city’s renowned sports culture. “Chicago Gourmet is where talent, creativity, and our city’s enduring competitive spirit get to shine,” remarks Sam Toia, President and CEO of the Illinois Restaurant Association. “Like pro sports, great food requires skill, strategy, and passion. No doubt Chicago is a top sports town, but our restaurant teams are the real MVPs of this city!” The primary venue for the main weekend events will be the stunning Harris Theater Rooftop at Millennium Park, offering breathtaking city views as a backdrop to the gastronomic festivities.

The main event weekend kicks off on Thursday, September 25, with Tacos & Tequila, a perennial crowd-pleaser hosted by celebrated chefs Rick Bayless and Marcos Carbajal. This opening night promises a vibrant celebration of Mexican culture, featuring gourmet tacos from top local chefs, premium agave spirits, and lively musical and dance performances.

Friday, September 26, is packed with action. The evening begins with the fan-favorite Hamburger Hop, co-hosted by chefs Joe Flamm and Sarah Grueneberg. This high-stakes competition pits North Side and South Side chefs against each other in a battle for the best burger, judged by both culinary experts and attendees, accompanied by craft beers and fine wines. As the night winds down, the festivities continue with the new Asian Late Night Market, presented by TAO Chicago and hosted by Chef Thai Dang. This exciting after-party offers a taste of Asia’s bustling street markets with late-night bites, specialty cocktails, music, and dancing.

Saturday, September 27, is dedicated to indulgence with the Grand Cru. This premium tasting event, hosted by acclaimed chefs Stephanie Izard and Karen Akunowicz, showcases exquisite cuisine paired with the world’s finest wines and spirits. Guests can choose from afternoon or evening sessions for this elevated gastronomic experience.

The festival culminates on Sunday, September 28, with the Rise & Shine Gourmet brunch. Hosted by chefs Art Smith, Lorena Garcia, and Jernard Wells, this delightful closing event offers a trifecta of sweet and savory brunch dishes, inventive cocktails, and lively music on the Harris Theater Rooftop, serving as the perfect celebratory finale.

Pre-Game Culinary World Series and Community Impact

Leading up to the main September events, Chicago Gourmet has expanded its Culinary World Series, a series of pre-game events that began earlier in the summer. These include unique dinners, culinary showdowns, and sports-themed gatherings held at various renowned restaurants and iconic city sports venues. Notable preview events have included the Game Day Gourmet at the Crosstown Classic and the poignant Tribute to Jackie Robinson Dinner.

Chicago Gourmet is more than just a celebration of food; it’s a significant contributor to the local restaurant industry. All proceeds from ticket sales benefit the Illinois Restaurant Association Educational Foundation (IRAEF), a nonprofit dedicated to fostering youth training and workforce development within the hospitality sector. With tickets ranging from $75 to $300, available at chicagogourmet.org, the event offers diverse options for attendees. This premier event continues to solidify Chicago’s reputation as a world-class dining destination, bringing together over 100 chefs and countless food lovers for an unforgettable weekend of culinary excellence and spirited competition.
