Chicago is set to host its tenth annual Thirsty Ears Festival, a unique event that stands as the city’s sole classical music street festival. From August 23rd to 24th, 2025, Wilson Avenue, specifically the stretch between Ravenswood and Hermitage, will be transformed into a vibrant hub for music lovers of all ages.
This year marks a significant milestone for the festival, which has cultivated a reputation for making classical music accessible and enjoyable in an informal, outdoor setting. Organized by Access Contemporary Music (ACM), the Thirsty Ears Festival aims to break down traditional barriers associated with classical music, presenting it as a dynamic and engaging art form. A Weekend of Diverse Classical Performances
The festival proudly features an impressive lineup of eighteen ensembles and soloists, promising a rich and varied auditory experience. The festival takes place on Wilson Avenue, a familiar street in the Ravenswood neighborhood, ensuring a community-centric feel. In the event of inclement weather, performances are slated to move indoors to the nearby All Saints Church, guaranteeing the music continues uninterrupted. A $10 suggested donation is requested for entry, with all proceeds supporting the ACM School of Music, a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering musical creativity.
