Grammy Award-winning artist Miguel has unveiled his latest single, “Rip,” a compelling track that delves into themes of surrender and pleasure, via ByStorm Entertainment/RCA Records. This release serves as a powerful prelude to his highly anticipated fifth studio album, “Caos,” slated for release on October 23, 2025, which also marks the artist’s 40th birthday. This new music signals a significant artistic rebirth and a bold new chapter for the influential music artist.

The single “Rip,” which arrived on September 29, 2025, is described as a raw and emotional exploration of vulnerability, inner battles, and the complexity of human experience. Its production blends atmospheric R&B with unexpected elements like old-school house keyboard riffs and a prominent breakbeat, creating a soundscape that is both heavy and liberating. The artwork accompanying “Rip” is a deliberate homage to “Danza de los Diablos” (Dance of the Devils), an Afro-Mexican dance rooted in resistance and solidarity, symbolizing the freedom of Afro-Mexican slaves. This cultural reference underscores Miguel’s commitment to exploring his heritage and social themes within his music.

“Caos,” the album eight years in the making, is poised to be Miguel’s most daring and intimate work to date. The project is a fearless exploration of transformation, capturing the volatile beauty where destruction breeds creation and pain evolves into growth. Miguel himself describes the album’s core concept: “To rebuild, I had to destroy myself. That is the core confrontation of CAOS. Through my personal evolution, I learned that transformation is violent. CAOS is the sonic iteration of me bending that violence into something universally felt.” The album’s title itself, meaning chaos in Spanish, reflects its exploration of personal and universal turmoil, defined as unpredictable behavior and deep sensitivity to change.

This release marks a significant return for Miguel, whose last full studio album, “War & Leisure,” was released in 2017. While he has shared EPs and singles in the interim, “Caos” represents a substantial body of new work. His previous albums, “Wildheart” (2015) and “War & Leisure” (2017), both debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s R&B Albums Chart, establishing him as a consistent force in contemporary music. With “Caos,” Miguel is set to redefine his legacy, pushing the boundaries of genre and culture and setting a new precedent for artistic evolution.

In line with his vision for greater artist control and direct fan engagement, Miguel has also been utilizing his creative incubator and brand platform, S1C (Schedule 1 Concepts). This platform is designed to empower multi-hyphenates across the Black, Brown, and Latin diaspora, merging Web2 and Web3 experiences. Tracks like the album’s title song “Caos” and “Angel’s Song” (a dedication to his son) were initially released via S1C, offering fans exclusive access and insight into his creative process.

Leading up to “Caos,” Miguel has treated fans to a series of potent singles. “El Pleito” (meaning ‘the fight’) celebrates his Mexican roots and the universal immigrant experience, acknowledging the sacrifices made when pursuing opportunities far from home. “New Martyrs (Ride 4 U)” addresses dysfunctional power structures and the cost of conviction, posing questions about resilience and authenticity in the face of systemic inequities and industry pressures. These releases, along with “Rip,” collectively build anticipation for the full album, showcasing Miguel’s continued dedication to creating music that is both deeply personal and politically resonant.

The arrival of “Rip” and the imminent release of “Caos” underscore Miguel’s enduring status as a major artist unafraid to confront complex themes and evolve his sound. This significant news for the music world confirms that Miguel’s next chapter promises a powerful fusion of introspection, cultural commentary, and genre-bending innovation.
