Yuki Chiba, formerly known by his moniker KOHH, has established himself as a pioneering force in Japan’s hip-hop and trap music scene. Born Yuki Chiba on April 22, 1990, in Tokyo, his journey began amidst adversity, finding solace and expression through music. He started producing and recording at 18, gaining early underground success. His career trajectory saw a significant boost with the release of his major second studio album, “MONOCHROME,” in 2014, which garnered considerable attention for its raw authenticity. Chiba’s career has been marked by a willingness to experiment and push sonic boundaries, earning him a loyal fanbase and critical acclaim.

A Partnership for Global Impact

The new agreement with Warner Music is more than just a recording contract; it encompasses his entire musical career, including management, merchandising, and live production. Warner Music Japan, leveraging its extensive global network, and 300 Entertainment, known for championing boundary-pushing artists, are set to provide comprehensive support for Chiba’s ambitious global ventures. This strategic alliance is designed to amplify his artistry and connect him with a worldwide audience.

Fueling Momentum with Viral Successes

This landmark signing follows a period of unprecedented international visibility for Yuki Chiba. His 2024 comeback track, “Team Tomodachi,” became a viral streaming hit across Asia, spawning numerous remixes and even a remix from Hollywood A-lister Will Smith. Further cementing his global appeal, Chiba’s collaboration with American rapper Megan Thee Stallion on her track “Mamushi” achieved significant international traction. The bilingual song marked Chiba’s first entry onto the US Billboard Hot 100, reaching number 68, and he performed it live with Stallion at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards, marking his US television debut.

Beyond music, Chiba has also expanded his profile through high-profile collaborations with Nike, representing the Jordan Brand worldwide, and Riot Games, contributing an anthem for their Valorant VCT Pacific Stage 2 event. These diverse projects highlight his growing influence across various cultural spheres.

Looking Ahead: Global Ambitions and Future Plans

To fully immerse himself in his global career, Chiba plans to relocate to Southern California. He is also set to headline his first-ever U.S. concert at The Roxy in Los Angeles on September 18. Furthermore, Chiba is planning to launch a new music festival in Japan, intending to create a cultural hub that connects Japanese and international artists and fans.

The music news of this partnership underscores a broader trend of Japanese artists achieving greater international success, a movement that Warner Music Japan is actively supporting. As the music industry continues to evolve, this deal positions Yuki Chiba as a key figure poised to make a significant impact on the global stage, solidifying his status as a major artist in the international music landscape.
