Skokie, IL – A delightful new destination has arrived. Downtown Skokie now boasts BonBon Bakeshop. It offers a unique blend of confections. This new bakery combines two popular local businesses. Karianne Soulsby and Gracie Vasquez are the masterminds. They have joined forces for this exciting venture. Locals can now find cakes, bonbons, and gelato all under one roof.

A Sweet Union: From Two to One

BonBon Bakeshop is the result of a sweet collaboration. Karianne Soulsby previously ran Diva Chocolates and Confections. Gracie Vasquez owned Naked Truffle. Soulsby is known for her delightful cakes, breads, and cookies. Her specialties include toffee-covered corn puffs, cinnamon rolls, and coffee cakes. She has served Skokie since 2020. Soulsby noted the strong loyalty of Skokie residents. They always came out to support her at farmers markets.

A Taste of Everything: The BonBon Bakeshop Menu

The bakeshop presents a curated selection. Soulsby contributes her celebrated cakes, breads, and cookies. Her offerings also feature items like streusel muffins and sour cream scones. Customers can also find rich sour cream coffee cake. Diva Chocolates was also known for sea salt caramels and decadent brownies.

Vasquez offers her signature bonbons. These handcrafted treats are a focal point. She also provides beautiful chocolate bars. Visitors can explore many unique truffle flavors. Furthermore, BonBon Bakeshop features homemade gelato. They offer seven distinct flavors. Soulsby developed the recipes herself. The gelato is made in-house daily. Ready-to-go cakes are also available. Bags of caramels and chocolate boxes line the shelves.

Downtown Skokie’s Sweet Renaissance

BonBon Bakeshop is located at 5023 Oakton Street. This is in the heart of downtown Skokie. The area is currently experiencing a business renaissance. Numerous new shops and restaurants have opened recently. Downtown Skokie has a history of vibrant local businesses. It once served as a hub for taverns and bakeries. This new bakeshop fits perfectly into this evolving landscape. It adds to the growing culinary appeal of the Chicago suburb.

Visiting BonBon Bakeshop

BonBon Bakeshop began welcoming customers on January 28th. It operates Wednesdays through Saturdays. Hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on these days. On Sundays, the bakeshop opens from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.. A formal ribbon-cutting ceremony is planned. This event will take place after the busy Valentine’s Day period. The establishment is set to become a key part of the Skokie food scene.
