This year’s “Step Up To The Plate” theme draws a direct parallel between the dedication of athletes and the craft of chefs. Sam Toia, President and CEO of the Illinois Restaurant Association, emphasizes this connection, stating, “Chicago Gourmet is where talent, creativity, and our city’s enduring competitive spirit get to shine. Like pro sports, great food requires skill, strategy, and passion. No doubt Chicago is a top sports town, but our restaurant teams are the real MVPs of this city!” The festival aims to highlight how the same grit and finesse seen on the sports field are mirrored in the culinary arena, offering a dynamic and engaging experience for all attendees.

All-Star Chefs and Gourmet Bites

Chicago Gourmet 2025 boasts an impressive lineup of over 100 distinguished chefs from Chicago and across the nation. Culinary titans such as Rick Bayless, Joe Flamm, Stephanie Izard, Sarah Grueneberg, Art Smith, Lorena Garcia, and Thai Dang are among the many celebrated figures participating. Attendees can anticipate a diverse array of gourmet bites, from championship-level burgers and delectable tacos to sophisticated wine pairings and creative cocktails. These culinary stars will be showcasing their skills, offering festival-goers a taste of the city’s rich and innovative food scene.

Game Day Schedule: Key Events Unveiled

The main event weekend kicks off on Thursday, September 25th, with “Tacos & Tequila” on the Harris Theater Rooftop, hosted by acclaimed chefs Rick Bayless and Marcos Carbajal. This event promises an evening of authentic Mexican flavors, premium agave spirits, and cultural performances. Friday, September 26th, features the highly anticipated “Hamburger Hop,” a competitive showdown where Northside and Southside chefs will vie for burger supremacy, co-hosted by Joe Flamm and Sarah Grueneberg. Following the burger competition, the new “Asian Late Night Market” will offer a vibrant after-party experience with late-night bites and Asian-inspired cocktails. Saturday, September 27th, is dedicated to the “Grand Cru,” an exclusive tasting event hosted by Stephanie Izard and Karen Akunowicz, showcasing the finest wines and cuisine. The festival concludes on Sunday, September 28th, with “Rise & Shine Gourmet,” a celebratory brunch featuring chefs Art Smith, Lorena Garcia, and Jernard Wells.

Beyond the Main Event: Culinary World Series and More

Leading up to the main September festivities, Chicago Gourmet has expanded its “Culinary World Series” programming, featuring a series of preview events and dinners throughout the summer. These “pre-game” activities have included sports-inspired culinary gatherings, offering fans a taste of the festival’s theme in advance. The festival also collaborates with various restaurants and iconic sports venues throughout the city, enriching the overall experience and showcasing Chicago’s diverse landscape.

Tickets and Details

Chicago Gourmet 2025 offers a variety of ticketed experiences, with individual event prices ranging from approximately $130 to $250, plus taxes and fees. All festival events are exclusively for guests aged 21 and older. Tickets can be purchased online through the official Chicago Gourmet website. With its blend of world-class food, celebrated chefs, and a unique sports-themed twist, Chicago Gourmet 2025 is poised to be a highlight of the city’s fall event calendar, celebrating the vibrant spirit of Chicago’s food and restaurant industry.
