Leading the new arrivals is the psychological drama “The Actor,” which becomes available for streaming on Hulu. Set against the evocative backdrop of 1950s New York, the film centers on a performer facing a profound crisis of identity. After losing his memory, the protagonist embarks on a journey to piece together his past, a quest that takes him to a small Ohio town as he attempts to rebuild who he is. This offering promises a deep dive into character and the complexities of memory and self.

Action enthusiasts can look forward to “A Working Man,” an action thriller premiering on MGM Plus. The film stars the prolific action star Jason Statham as Levon Cade. Cade is initially presented as a seemingly ordinary construction foreman, but the narrative quickly reveals his hidden, shadowy past as a black ops operative. This setup suggests a plot likely involving Cade’s past catching up to him, forcing the skilled operative back into action despite his attempts at a quiet life.

Netflix subscribers will encounter the latest installment in a compelling documentary series with the debut of “Trainwreck: Poop Cruise.” This film revisits the infamous 2013 Carnival Triumph disaster, an incident where passengers aboard the cruise ship were left stranded under harrowing conditions. The documentary is expected to delve into the specifics of the ordeal, highlighting the lack of power and non-functional plumbing that characterized the passengers’ experience at sea following the vessel’s mechanical issues. It serves as a continuation of the “Trainwreck” series, which examines notable public mishaps and their aftermath.

The horror genre is represented by Blumhouse’s “The Woman in the Yard,” arriving on Peacock. This film features Danielle Deadwyler in the central role of Ramona. The narrative explores themes of grief and resilience, focusing on Ramona as she copes with both emotional sorrow and physical injury following the tragic death of her husband in a car crash. Blumhouse Productions is known for its successful track record in producing high-concept, often character-driven, horror films, suggesting this release will blend psychological tension with genre scares.

In addition to these platform-specific premieres, the film “The Ritual” is also highlighted as a notable new release this week. “The Ritual” will be accessible through premium video-on-demand (PVOD) platforms. PVOD allows viewers to rent or purchase new films digitally relatively soon after or concurrently with their initial theatrical release, offering another avenue for audiences to access recent cinematic content from the comfort of their homes.

These five titles – “The Actor,” “A Working Man,” “Trainwreck: Poop Cruise,” “The Woman in the Yard,” and “The Ritual” – represent a selection of the new movies becoming available for streaming and digital rental between June 24 and June 30. The releases span multiple genres and platforms, aiming to provide options for a wide range of viewer preferences during this final week of June.
