Chicago’s acclaimed chef Joe Flamm, renowned for his “Top Chef” victory and celebrated Chicago restaurants, is set to expand his culinary footprint with the upcoming opening of Bar Tutto. This new all-day Italian cafe and wine bar will make its debut in the vibrant Fulton Market District this winter, marking the fourth establishment under his hospitality firm, Day Off Group.

Located on the ground floor of the newly completed Flora Tower at 1114 W. Carroll Ave., Bar Tutto aims to offer a versatile dining experience for the bustling neighborhood, with an opening anticipated for early December.

Chicago’s Culinary Evolution: A 2024 Retrospective

November 24, 2024

Bar Tutto, which translates to “bar everything,” is designed to be a go-to destination throughout the day, offering a dynamic menu that evolves from morning to night. In the morning, patrons can expect classic Italian pastries, freshly brewed espresso, and breakfast wraps, catering to a quick start or a leisurely coffee break. As the day progresses, the cafe will transition into a lively spot for lunch and dinner, featuring Italian aperitivo offerings such as anchovy crostini and fritti misti, alongside house-made fresh pastas. Main courses will showcase Flamm’s signature cooking, with dishes like grilled dorade with fennel salsa verde and pork collar with peaches and polenta.

The beverage program will highlight Italian classics, including Aperol and Campari-forward cocktails, complemented by a curated selection of Italian beers and wines, aligning with the concept of a true Italian wine bar.

Chef Joe Flamm’s Continued Culinary Expansion in Chicago

This new venture further solidifies Chef Joe Flamm’s deep connection to Chicago’s food scene. A South Side native, Flamm has built a distinguished career, including winning “Top Chef” season 15 and honing his skills in some of the city’s most esteemed kitchens, such as Spiaggia, Girl and the Goat, and bellyQ. His existing portfolio with Day Off Group includes the critically acclaimed Rose Mary, known for its Italian-Croatian fusion; BLVD Steakhouse, a classic American steakhouse; and il Carciofo, a Roman-inspired Italian restaurant.

Day Off Group, founded by Frank Callero, Kara Callero, Steven Zaleski, and Chef Joe Flamm, is committed to creating authentic culinary experiences that celebrate exceptional food and hospitality.

An Ambiance Inspired by Italy

Bar Tutto’s design is set to echo the charm of Italian wine bars and eateries, featuring an inviting space with exposed brick and warm walnut millwork. An open kitchen, anchored by a custom wood-fired grill crafted by Wayward Machine (the same company that built the grill at Rose Mary), will offer diners a glimpse into the culinary action. For warmer months, an expansive outdoor patio will provide additional seating. The restaurant is designed to seat approximately 100 people, making it the most intimate of Flamm’s current ventures.

The opening of Bar Tutto promises to add another exciting dining destination to Fulton Market, offering a versatile and high-quality Italian food and drink experience that aligns with Joe Flamm’s esteemed culinary reputation in Chicago. This latest news is a significant development for the city’s vibrant food and restaurant landscape.
