CHICAGO – The City of Chicago has unveiled the complete schedule for the 2025 Taste of Chicago, the city’s flagship food and music festival, an event integral to its summer and early autumn cultural calendar.
Mayor Brandon Johnson and the Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE) jointly announced the details, outlining a format that continues to blend large-scale downtown programming with accessible community-focused events across the city.
A notable feature for the 2025 edition is the commitment to free admission across all components of the festival, ensuring that residents and visitors alike can partake in the culinary and cultural showcase without an entry fee.
Expanding Reach: Neighborhood Celebrations
The 2025 schedule is structured to bring the Taste of Chicago experience directly into city neighborhoods leading up to the main event. These community-based celebrations are designed to highlight local flavors and talents, fostering a sense of connection within different parts of Chicago.
Three distinct neighborhood pop-up events have been scheduled:
* The first is set for June 28 at Marquette Park, located on the city’s southwest side.
* The second will take place on July 19 at Pullman Park, situated in the historic Pullman neighborhood on the south side.
* The final neighborhood event is slated for August 9 in Albany Park, a diverse community on the northwest side.
These neighborhood gatherings are planned to feature a curated selection of local food vendors, offering a taste of the area’s diverse culinary landscape. In addition to the gastronomic offerings, attendees can anticipate vibrant live performances, including music and dance acts showcasing Chicago’s rich artistic talent. The events will also incorporate Chicago SummerDance programming, inviting the public to participate in outdoor dance lessons and open dancing, a popular city initiative.
The Grant Park Grand Finale
Following the series of neighborhood engagements, the 2025 Taste of Chicago will culminate in its traditional and largest iteration at Grant Park. The main festival event in the city’s iconic downtown park is scheduled to run over three days, from September 5–7, 2025. This central location offers a expansive setting for a wider array of food vendors, entertainment stages, and interactive experiences, drawing larger crowds for the festival’s conclusion.
Headliners Announced for Main Stage
A key highlight of the Grant Park segment is the lineup for the Main Stage, promising diverse musical performances each evening. The scheduled headliners for the evening shows, which are set to begin nightly at 5 p.m., include a mix of genres and acclaimed artists:
* On Friday, September 5, the stage will be graced by Chicago native and acclaimed rapper Lupe Fiasco.
* Saturday, September 6, will feature a performance by the popular R&B and pop artist JoJo.
* Closing out the festival on Sunday, September 7, will be international Latin superstar Elvis Crespo.
This lineup reflects an effort to offer broad appeal, spanning different musical tastes and celebrating both local roots and international sounds.
Showcasing Chicago’s Diversity
DCASE Commissioner Clinée Hedspeth underscored the significance of the Taste of Chicago in its role as a platform for presenting the city’s multifaceted identity. Commissioner Hedspeth highlighted that the event serves to showcase Chicago’s culinary and cultural diversity, bringing together communities and celebrating the contributions of local businesses and artists.
By expanding the festival’s footprint into neighborhoods and maintaining free admission citywide, the 2025 Taste of Chicago aims to be more accessible than ever, inviting participation from all corners of Chicago and beyond. The combination of localized events and the large-scale downtown finale provides a comprehensive experience of the city’s vibrant food scene and dynamic cultural landscape.
