CHICAGO – A late-night gathering celebrating a musician’s new release turned into a scene of horrific violence in Chicago’s upscale River North neighborhood on Wednesday, July 2nd, resulting in four fatalities and leaving 14 others wounded. The mass shooting unfolded shortly after 11:00 p.m. outside Artis Restaurant, located at 311 W. Chicago Ave., where attendees had gathered for a mixtape release party for rapper Mello Buckzz.
According to initial reports, the incident occurred at approximately 11:02 p.m. when a dark-colored vehicle approached the location. A person inside the vehicle reportedly opened fire into a crowd standing outside the restaurant before the car quickly fled the scene.
